Gosh...where to even begin
Friday was the first ever Rising Tides Student Connection Conference with Ankeny School District and, after reading the 300 student and community member feedback forms, I am stunned at the positive ripple effect that has come out of the day.
HUGE thank you to the 80+ community members who gave their time to share stories, advice, and encourage our future generation of leaders.
A few of my favorite comments include…
Students:
- I really liked getting advice from many different people in different places and jobs
- My key takeaways from today are that you can always change what you want to do in your career
- My key takeaway from today is to be yourself and do what your heart wants
- I realized that I don’t need to know exactly what to do yet.
Community Members:
- I really liked reminding students that mistakes are okay and perfection isn’t everything
- I really liked meeting the kids with different interests and learning about their experiences and then talking
about how those could translate after school
- My key takeaways from today are that these students are leaps and bounds more ready for the “real world” than I was at their age
- There are a lot of young people who are going to do incredible things!
