Last week I posted about enlisting the help of local high school students to find (and write about) Ripple Effects that were happening around them. I love what they came up with!
This is ripple effect #2 that happened right before students went on break. I love that it was one where the students saw something they could help with and ran with it.
Student Ripple Effect #2:
Before winter break students at Ankeny Centennial decided to make a difference. Audrey Pierick and @Mya Maronn (students from Orbis) found the Ankeny Centennial Service Club busy at work, making a greater impact in their community, and wanted to showcase the work they were doing. One of their projects was the giving tree which provided items for Y.E.S.S (Youth Emergency Services and Shelter.)
Over 45 days they collected items like socks, hats, personal care items, and much more. Seeing how these high schoolers identified a need in the community and brought it upon themselves to run this drive, is truly making ripples throughout the school, the community, and kids that need Y.E.S.S.
